While out with my little family today...at Target...this lady comes up to us. Avi does her "I'm shy, so if I close my eyes they don't exist bit" (which is quite hilarious...she really goes all out!) Anyway. The lady is having a grand ol' time...then asks...

Old lady: "Are they you're only children"
Me: "Yes. We're done having kids. Just these two is all I need..."
Old lady: "Aw honey, you should really try for that boy...you'll family will be complete"
Me: "No thank you, We're all set...our family IS complete...I have my husband...he's my boy"
Old lady: "Boys are a blessing"
Me: "Well, I had a hysterectomy, so even if I wanted to...we're all set"
Old lady: "Aw honey, well don't I feel bad for you?!...You will die, and never have a boy. That's just sad. I will pray for you"
Me: (Note, I'm agnostic, but I didn't want to bring in more fire for this lady to burn, so I was respectful) "Thank you, you're so kind. But, honestly. We are ok. I have two brothers, and a husband. That's all the boys I need. I love my girls, and they complete my family. Thank you for thinking of me though."
Old lady: "Perhaps if you adopt a son someday, that can be just about the same...legally at least"
Me: "Ok. Maybe I'll get a male dog. But thank you."
I really didn't know where to get her to stop...soooo Caliah saves the day...

She farts, she laughs so hard because it's super smelly. The lady wrinkles her nose...but...Caliah says it out loud..."Mom, I farted...and this time it wasn't you who stunk up the place"
OhmyGod...never laughed so hard...

Gotta love that child.

Oh wow I cannot believe that she was pushing it so much. There is a difference between being polite and what not. I am a nice person but I so would have let her have it. That is just rude. The first 3 times she said was enough then to keep going. People are just getting worse and worse with judgments lately. Sorry you had to go through that, but really hilirious that she did that. You got away. That is all that mattered.

OMG Cali! Too funny!

You did good Gracie - that lady is lucky she didn't start that conversation with me. She would have gotten it and I probably would be banned from Target!

Way to be there, Cali! What a rude old lady. I guess some of us are just doomed to get the "when are you going to try for that BOY" comment, but most people are smart enough to let it go when you say "I'm NOT!" The only person that's ever harped on me about a boy is my MIL...and her son WAS a mama's boy, and has passed away already, so I'm a little more lenient with her.

Glad you finally escaped from crazy lady.

What's so terrible about not having a boy? I'm happy with the two girls I have as well and I'm not having anymore.

Cali, is hilarious.

You're funny "Maybe I'll get a male dog".

I try to respect the little old ladies. They're from a different generation. I just didn't want to get into it with her with my 'lack' of religion belief...and hey, if I can hold my mouth on that...anything else is easy. But I just hate when people do push the boy subject! LOL...And even my pets are females!! Remember my three cats? And my hamster? Even my beta is a girl! (Well...he has a girls name! LOL "Lily" after ...you know...well, you know...)
But ya. It's easier for me to hold my frustration on older people. I just view their ignorance as not their fault. But if it's someone my age...or my MOTHER...then I go off...hehe...
And yes...My Cali was a good save! The lady just walked away...hehe.

oh geez, what a crazy lady. That is just rude, but it still amazes me what complete strangers think they have the right to say!

We get the, "Are you gonna try for a boy" comment ALL the time. To which we reply, "We are very happy with our little girls and may be done. If not, we wouldn't mind another little girl" I think it's RUDE when people ask that.

I get this all the time, but not this pushy!!!! I think at this point, I would have gone off on her. Usually, I just say we're happy and leave it at that. But, if she kept pushing, I think I'm emotionaly enough to tell her where to go and how to get there and how boys are nothing but trouble

I hate when people act like that!

When I was pregnant I always got the "you will have the perfect family with a boy and a girl so you don't need anymore kids."

That drove me nuts. So if Josiah was a girl we would be an imperfect family and would have to keep having kids?

Thank goodness for Cali.
