We have talked about it and we will want them to wait until we feel they are emotionaly ready. It might be different ages for each of the girls.

I think it will be different ages here, but definitely no younger than 14 for "real" dating (not like at school only boyfriends).

Oh my.. yikes!! My 12 year old is into boys now.. I'd prefer there are no boyfriends yet. Maybe group dates @ 14/15..we'll see.

Never. lol We haven't talked about it since she is four but I would say no real dating until 16 at this point.

I'll say maturity/emotionally ready has a ton to do with it but I'd say not until at least 16. Before then I believe they are not ready and I'd like to protect any of our kid/s (boy or girl) from just dating anyone. I'm not big on those that jump from one girlfriend/boyfriend to another and even at 16 do they really understand true love or just think they are in "love" because they want to date?

we haven't made any hard and fast rules, just because you can't control it, and so we've managed to put it in a way that our girls feel like it's their decision.

The recommendation is to not bother with the whole relationship thing until you're in grade 10 (or even better, older) just because it's a whole lot of drama and just not worth it. And there's no way I would accomodate any kind of dates in jr high anyways. So far so good, no boyfriend prospects on the horizon for my 15 year old, and same for my almost 14 year old. Dh is pretty deliberate on keeping them busy with stuff he does with them, and it seems that during the jr high years, as long as their dad validates them they're not really looking for any other male attention.
