I just signed up at my hospital for my childbirth and breastfeeding classes. I'm going through the hospital because they're free of charge. My childbirth class is March 23 and my breastfeeding class is April 13.
Any other FTM signed up for their classes yet, or are you waiting until closer to your DD?

I did them when I was pregnant with M. I did an infant CPR class as well. It was all useful. Though I am a big overresearcher so I didn't learn too much that I didn't already know. But I learned some stuff and got familiar with the hospital and their policies and that was really good too.

I took classes through my hospital with my first. A lot of it was information I already knew but a lot was breathing and relaxation techniques that really came in handy when my epidural failed.
Let us know how they go!

I will be doing the breast feeding class (thanks for reminding me to sign up! ) I want to do the childbirth class, but my hospital offers 2 options, one saturday 8 hour class or a class that meets once a week for 6 weeks for 2 hours. The class that works for me doesn't work for my boyfriend (and I don't know how I feel about an 8 hour class) and the class that works for him doesn't work for me because of work. So i don't know what to do about that. Has anyone else gone to one of these things by themselves?

I just signed up today! I signed up for a baby basics which covers newborn care and first aid, and a childbirth class. I'm debating the breastfeeding class....all the women in my family have breastfed so
I think I can probably get by without it. I wish my hospital was free of charge! But I am so excited anyway

I might end up going by myself for the same reason. DH and my work schedules don't always cooperate.

Our childbirth class is supposed to cover baby basics, and first aid, child birth and registration...I think that's everything, the nurse was talking fast and I was still trying to write down the directions to the classroom. LOL I'm hoping this class will make DH a little bit more confident about the idea of a baby...he's never even held a baby before.
I will def. tell y'all how the classes go. DH is wondering if he'll be the only dude at the breastfeeding class. The nurse made it sound like partners come (she asked who was coming with me), so I'm assuming the other dads do go? Something to ask at the first class I think...

You ne ed to have a partner so u can take someone else but I thought dh (bf at the time) got way more out of it than I did. It was really good for him. He thought so too and at first he was not wanting to go at all.

I probably would have considered the classes more if my husband was home with my first.

I did a prenatal + breastfeeding class with DD, run by my doula's friend. It went fine but I didn't think it helped me at ALL with the realities of breastfeeding haha DH hated them and for the second class I ended up not taking him and had a much better time. He left the room during the video of a delivery because he almost passed out (should have been my first sign that he wouldn't be standing next to me when DD was born haha)

I hope you learn a lot! I did the one day class at my hospital with my first. DH was a total goofball the whole time. They played a video of a woman in labor and he made an audible comment that it sounded like a porn video if you closed your eyes. I seriously cannot take him anywhere. The only thing he learned during that class was the location of the cafeteria.
