Had my monthly checkup today with my midwife. I've gained 15lbs so far which is great for me (and honestly less than I thought). Baby girl's heartrate was perfect exactly what is always is: 135. Problem is...my uterus is measuring 27 weeks. 2 weeks ahead!!! Last month I was measuring about a week ahead and she wasn't concerned at all since we don't always grow at a constant rate. But since I am measuring even farther ahead this time, she scheduled me for an u/s on Tuesday to check my fluid levels and baby's growth.

Anyone else experience this before?

I think this is common with 2nd and 3rd pregnancies. my OB has never measured my uterus. She feels it is not a reliable way to check progress.

Everyone is different and it could be the way the baby has herself positioned too.

It happened to my mom during her second pregnancy. She had too much amniotic fluid...a condition called polyhydramnios(sp) So it is definately wise to have them check how much fluid is there if you are measuring so much ahead so they can drain away some excess fluid if thats what have.
Hopefully its just a growth spurt babys going thru though.

i was usually 2 weeks ahead with my last pregnancy. i measured today 4 weeks ahead, yes 4! however, based on my lmp i'm 24 weeks, by sonograms im 22 weeks, but by measurements im 26 weeks. i do have a large uterus though so my doc wasn't concerned.

Measuring ahead is typical for me. At my last check I was 23 1/2 weeks and measured 27. I know to the day when I ovulated, so it can't be my dates are off.. it's just the way I grow.

Yeah she didn't seem concerned at all. I guess just because I usually have such small babies and have always measured right on or even behind, she just wanted to be sure. At least I get an excuse to see little miss again!

I wouldn't worry about it. It will be good to check your fluid level, though. I was on the very very high end of normal for fluid levels with DD and it did cause some problems later on. She was a small baby so there was plenty of room for her to swim around in there, so she turned breech at 35 weeks. She turned on her own again a week later, but she was still floating really high and never really engaged, partly because I had so much fluid. I ended with a c-section after 60 hours. Part of the reason I'm not going for a home birth this time is that in the event I have a lot of fluid again, they can break my water earlier on and hopefully get the baby to descend. My midwives couldn't do that at home because of the risk of prolapse.

I was measuring 2 weeks ahead at my last appt, and my doctor didn't seem too worried. She did say it we get further than that she would want to check fluids, etc. I'm pretty sure I've measured ahead with my other two pregnancies as well without issue.
