So being bored on a Friday night, trying to stay awake PAST 8 pm, I decided to look up the meaning of my future son's names that we picked out.

Arthur is Celtic for "Bear Hero" and Phineas is Hebrew for "Oracle."

Anyone else look up the meanings of the names you picked out? Did you pick out the names for the meanings (obviously we didn't) or just because you liked the name?

DD1's name means "Humble". Chose this on purpose.
DS's name means "God increases" which is fitting.
DD2' name means "Noble, kind".

Ezekiel means "God Will Strengthen" Raymond means "Counsel Protection".

Emmaline means "peaceful home" Juniper symbolizes "protection".

Yea, name meanings have been a deal-breaker for us when choosing names. We like it to be meaningful all around and not solely pleasing to our ears. Just our preference, not judging others or anything.

Tristan means Loud One. Kai means the Sea or Ocean
DDs name means green gemstone or jewel. But also means Luck

Ellianna = God has delivered. Kinda interesting. Our original plan was for two children. I adore my boys. I always really wanted a daughter. Now the docs say GIRL.

Lena means "light." Pretty sure Pearl just means the pearl.

We haven't chose names for meaning, but rather, we chose family names. Lena's name is adapted from my grandmother's name, Leona, which means lion. I didn't know the meaning of Lena until my sister looked it up, probably trying to find a reason to get me to change it. But now she has finally come around and likes it. I probably wouldn't give my kid a name that means something like, "spawn of Satan" or anything like that, but other than that, I don't really care too much about the meaning. It's more about a connection to the name and to people who matter.

Fiona is the feminine version of the name Fionn, which means "Fair".

Oddly enough - we didn't plan it this way - Finnegan is a variation of the name Fionn...so both our children's names have the same meaning!

Their middle names (Rosemary and Michael) are family names.

Name meanings aren't really a big deal for us, although I'd definitely avoid names that had bad meanings.

Perry is wanderer and Coy is quiet, or peaceful.
My father is really big on name meanings and how they relate to people and their paths in life and to his religion.
When we named dd I wanted Lilyan as a first name, but couldn't even pick a few names I liked for the middle name, so my dad chose Shiloh, which is "god's gift" in hebrew. It meant a lot to him and what he believes, but he jokes about it a lot that "God is with her, even in your heathen atheist house". I love that man so much.

Jaleigh doesn't mean anything, it's simply a variation of the name Haley. Her middle name, Kathleen, means Pure.

Kiefer means barrel-maker, forest-dweller, or glutton (which is hilarious because Kiefer will eat all day long if you let him). His middle name is William, which means will/desire and protection.

We don't choose names for meaning. First names are chosen because we like them and middle names are family names.
