What does everyone think about second hand smoke? My boyfriend is a smoker. He never smokes in the house, but I don't even like to be around him outside when he is smoking. He says that the smoke is going up into the air and just because I can smell it a little bit doesn't mean I am breathing in the smoke. I say, if I can smell it then I am breathing in the fumes and that is bad for the baby.
I'm not sure if I am just being overly protective. What do you all think?

This is a huge topic for me. Both my DH's parents are smokers and they smoke inside their house. My DS has asthma and smoke flares it up. I have asked over and over agin for them to smoke outside and they refuse. Anyway IMO if you can smell it you are inhaling it (some drs even say second hand is just as bad as smoking) .but with that being said sometimes its hard to avoid and you can't always steer clear.

Some advice maybe have him change clothes when he comes in and wash his hands. Keep the door closed when hes smoking. That might help with you smelling it.

I agree with what the others have said. I am cuckoo for this kind of stuff, and I don't compromise, so I don't personally feel as though you're being overprotective. I am lucky in that none of my family members smoke, and SO hates smoke, but his mom is a smoker, and so are some of his friends. I will not be around it, as much as I can help it. I just won't. Not to mention, smoke has always given me horrible headaches.
