Good morining!

Im looking into getting a book or more on pregnancy, was wondering if anyone has suggestions? reviews on "what to expect when you are expectin" are very contradicting, some say it scared them with the dos and donts...Amazon has a book by Mayo Clinic that I'm leaning towards, I just have a bad OB and need to start reading meanwhile i find a different one!

I read "What to Expect When Expecting" before I got pregnant the first time. I wasn't terribly thrilled with it. I recently got the "Mayo Clinic's Guide to a Healthy Pregnancy". It's okay. I didn't like the verbage in What to Expect. It seemed really cheesy to me. The Mayo Clinic book seems more straight to the point with less cutsy wording. Not sure if that helps, or if I even made any sense.

I have the Mayo clinic one, What to Expect, and Your Pregnancy Week by Week. I agree about the What to Expect one.....it can scare the crap out of you. I try to avoid the scary sections. But I like the weekly breakdown of what's happening with your baby. I really like Your Pregnancy Week by Week.

Also, if you want something hilarious to read, try Jenny McCarthy's Belly Laughs. Sooo funny!!!

I really like the Pregnancy week by week also. I used it with both my previous pregnancies and just bought the new version for this one.

I have "What to Expect" and the pregnancy week by week. I preferred the week by week book. I will most likely buy the new version of that one.

I only have What to Expect, and I never much cared for it. I think I'll look into some of the others that have been suggested!

Pregnancy, Childbirth and the Newborn by Penny Simkin is my favorite. It leans a lot more toward the natural birth side of things if that's your preference. I hated What to Expect.

It's funny how disliked "What To Expect" seems to be by just about EVERYONE I talk to. Any time I mention pregnancy books to friends with kids their first reaction seems to be "Oh, just don't get WTEWYE!" I mean, it's the book EVERYONE is familiar with and the book I automatically associated with pregnancy before I started this journey, but everyone I know hates it! I have to agree that I do NOT like it. How the heck did it get to be so big if it's so awful?! LOL
