Do you have any fears about labor?

I have had 2 awful experiences with failed epidurals so I will be attempting my first drug-free labor and delivery. I'm not sure why I'm nervous about since my epidurals never kicked in anyways...I could feel everything both times. I guess it's more of a mental thing. Anywho, I'm both very excited and anxious about it.

I'm afraid I won't make it to the hospital in time. With my youngest my contractions started at 4:05, I had tmi diarrhea, my water broke and I threw up at my house all within 20 mins so we rushed to the hospital and I had her a little after 5:00. I think it was like 5:25 or something. Obviously no time for epidural, I was rushed to a room in a wheelchair screaming my head off. I had her about 30 mins after I got to the hospital. It was crazy!

I'm fearful of a c/s. I really REALLY don't want one.
Otherwise no fears. Not yet. I'm a first timer, so I'm not really sure what to expect.

I'm just worried about the last part, like 8 cm on, and the pushing. I had a natural birth last time by choice and I felt fine up to the end but then I never got the urge to push for some reason so I ended up having to push for four hours and needed a vacuum to help so if I could cut that time even by half I'd like that a lot

Sounds a lot like my daughters birth. My 3rd child's birth was like that too but it was nice not having to leave.

Right now I'm not even thinking ahead that far.

I had a really tough labor and recovery with ds. His head was sideways and after three hrs of pushibg they had to use foreceps...the bruising and tearing was painful for three months. Im so nervous of being in the same situation and having to decide foreceps or c section. Idk which way i would go. Ds came so close to having to be revived when he was born...i dont want to experience that again....and they hit a nerve with my epidural which caused a lighting sensation down my side and legd...so im scared of the epidural too lol. No matter what its worth whatever you go through when you hold that baby.

I had a lot of fears about labor the first time around- mainly I just was convinced that I was going to die in childbirth. All those fears dissipated by the time the big day arrived. The only point in my labor/delivery experience that was remotely scary was when I fainted the first time I got up after delivery. With this pregnancy I am looking forward to labor/delivery, but of course a part of me has fears that something is going to go wrong- they are very general fears though, no one thing in particular.

I'm not afraid of labor, but I AM very afraid of having to recover from another c-section. My incision took 17 weeks to close, I couldn't lie on my side comfortably for months, and it was at least a week before I could sit up without assistance. To be the only one who hears your baby crying and not be able to get up to hold her is just awful. DH is a suuuuper heavy sleeper so it was really hard to get him to wake up and get her for me.

Please, please, please let my VBAC be successful!

I am just scared of the pain! I had a natural birth last time which started like 3 days before and they kept sending me home. Well, I couldn't sleep or anything because I was having contractions and so I started labor already super overtired! I just remember the excruciating pain and it is kinda freaking me out a little.

I'm scared of having a c-section too. I'm also scared of not being in control of the birth, like doctors or nurses making decisions without my okay.

Don't want to scare anyone, but I have had some horrible experiences. I'm just hoping to not get anxious when everything starts.

I'm scared of having the same experience I had with my son all over again... baby getting stuck -- 3 hours of pushing, failed vacuum extraction, emergency c-section. I'd almost rather have a repeat section if I knew I could avoid that trauma. I still don't know if I want to vbac or not.

L&D went great with my other children, especially my last two. I had to be induced with all three, so no surprises. We planned when we were going to the hospital & labor was really short with the last two. I'm hoping for the same easy delivery.

My L&D with Connor was not fun and after 48 hours of labor, ended in a c/s. I'm really hoping for a VBAC this time around, I'll do anything to avoid another c/s. Luckily, it wasn't an emergency, it was completely my decision with the help of my midwife. But it sucked because I went from a "natural birth plan" to trying absolutely everything to get him out! Just hoping for an easier time this time around!

Brianne, that's pretty much exactly how my labor went. Really hoping the universe has something better in store this time.
