We are meeting our potential midwives tonight. I am nervous because they are one of our only options. I just hope we click!

I know that it's very important that you feel comfortable with them. I hope things go very well. KUPed!

I wish we still lived by the midwives who delivered Everett.

KUP! I really missed my first midwife when we moved out of state. But hopefully you will like the new!

Seeing them at my 6 week check up was brutal. I cried as we drove away because I knew they would likely not be delivering our next child. My husband and I even talked about delaying TTC until we could find out if we were moving back down. I hope I like them too. I have met one before at the improving birth rally and she seemed really nice.

Ugh I wish I could say it was amazing that I loved them etc. I'm not sure what is going on but I am having a hard time this pregnancy. I am usually so sure of my decisions when it comes to birth but now I am not so sure. Sigh I don't know what to do.

I'm sorry it didn't go as well as you'd hoped. What exactly didn't click?

We had the same problem in my first pg and we ended up dropping that practice and decided we could do an unassisted homebirth. Well, that may have been true but bc we didn't get any u/s's at the end we didn't know baby was breech and had to get ERCS. I'll always regret not sticking it out with them despite our differences.

Not directing that last bit at you, just sharing a similar problem with the midwife thing. I just found her to be "cold" and I couldn't picture her in our birth experience.

I don't even know if it was them or if its me. If its because this pregnancy was so unplanned, ugh I dunno.

When's your next appointment with them? Maybe it will go better.

Yeah, if they are your only choice and going unassisted isn't an option you're comfortable with, maybe give it at least a few more visits. My last midwife I had an instant liking for her, and she ended up being a total flake, so first impressions aren't always the most important thing.

Thanks ladies. The more visits we have then we have out of pocket costs. I am going to do some soul searching over the next few weeks and make a decision. I'm only 6 weeks so I have time to make the decision. I don't have another appointment set up yet. Like I said I don't even know if it was them or me. I don't think we are comfortable with unassisted. This is so hard. I don't want to be in the hospital hooked up to monitors an IV ect. This is such a tough spot.

I know the feeling. The one and only midwife in the area is the one we've used the last two pregnancies, and she missed BOTH births so there's no way we're going to hire her again. I've decided to see a family practitioner for prenatal care and for now, an unassisted homebirth is still what we plan to do. Whatever you decide, you can always change your mind if something starts to feel "not right".
