So today at work, there was about five doctors who were checking blood pressure because a lot of my coworkers say they have high blood pressure because work is so stressful. Had my blood pressure taken and it was 160/110. The doctor said that is super high. I have a follow up appointment on Friday with my midwife. I don't think I'm particularly stressing about anything. I'm actually pretty happy. And my diet is healthy since DH is a health guru. I've never had high blood pressure. Would it be lame to say I'm scared

Not lame at all. You need to be seen. That's high for not being pregnant. If it's any consolation, I'm sure they will be starting me on bp meds. Just try to relax.

When did they take it? Were you relaxed, did it come down, were you sitting or standing?

They took it right before lunch. Yeah, I was pretty relaxed. Honestly, I've been slacking at work but But I was sitting.

It's something to follow up on but not something I would be overly concerned about with only one reading. Especially if they didnt retake it later.

You are definitely not crazy for being worried. That is high. But hopefully it has come down and you can just be watched closer from now on. Good luck to you!

Thats very very high, I would have went to the ER with that sort of reading. I have high blood pressure (dx in May) and I am currently on Methlydopa for mangement during my pregnacy. BP sometimes can not have symptoms but can be very serious. both my parents have high BP as well so it runs in my family, you should you BP taken again and if its high go the the doctor right away.
