I know this is quite a hot topic! But if your lil bean is a boy, what are you going to do?

DF and I haven't been having any baby talk til we know what's happening with our poor little bean but we had been talking about whether to circumcise or not a lot before all of this! We're hoping for a boy (obviously either way we're going to be thrilled!) I'm not sure about circumcising but I think I would let DF make the decision and he wants to.

What are your opinions? Hope I spelled it right by the way lol.

We circumsized our son. It isn't necessary, but was core to DH's religion.

Both of my boys are. My husband wanted them to be. After issues his brother had and needing to be when he was 10. Granted I know that these issues may not happen with our boys he wasn't willing to take the chance. And I was ok with that decision. We did a lot of research on both sides but still felt it was best for our family. And in the end that's all that matters. Research both sides and make the decision that works for your family.

It's a personal choice. We did the research and opted to leave him intact.

Yeh I've heard people say its a personal choice, medical reasons, cosmetic reasons...just interesting to hear what everyone opted for or will opt for.

Didn't start this thread to judge, just curious

DH and I disagree on this topic. I'd prefer not to and he would. I've done the research and he won't. I'm actually hoping for a third girl just to avoid this topic because it would just be easier than to have this fight.

I don't want to but DH does. I used to have the AAP on my side, but they just reversed their stance and now they're saying the benefits outweigh the risks, so they now recommend it. I told him if he insists, he's taking care of it and doing all the diaper changes until it's healed. I don't have a problem with it morally, I'll just feel terrible for my poor baby.

Yeh I think I'd tell my fiance the same...if he wants it done he needs to be responsible and take care of it.

Also don't think my insurance covers it so he'd have to work extra to pay for it...I think its pretty expensive too.

I think I need to do more research on the procedure, I know its common but if there's anything that freaks me out about it I'm certainly going to discuss it with DF...ultimately I think it should be his decision for our son tho.

We will not as a newborn and don't want to ever but we will leave that open in case it does end up being needed. I've seen first hand a botched circ with babies in a daycare I worked at and I would just rather not do it as a newborn.

We have done all our boys. I hate it, wish we didn't think it is best, but we do. However, we do it on day 8. We are not Jewish, but again, think it is the best practice if you are going to do it. But I hate it. It is the only reason I would rather have a girl.

I don't know. I am against it and my DH is for it. I figure I'm not going to worry until 20 weeks....but I have a strong feeling this will be a boy.

I left the ultimate decision up to DH. He did the research and sent both pros and cons to me.

My brother had to have it done at 22 for medical reasons. Since it's genetic and my kids have a good chance of having the same problem, we did and would again. No one else in my family is except dh. Not even his dad. I have no problem either way. I did make my dh go with to do it though.

We will. I am on the fence, but DH absolutely wants it done if this is a boy. And since he is the one with the penis, I think he should have the most say about this particular issue.

We never got our first son circumcised, so if we have a second son we still won't. DH isn't circumcised either, its not a popular choice around here anymore

Having known my uncle who got it done much later in life, we chose to circ all our boys as infants. It's heartbreaking, but I've never heard an adult tell horror stories about the circ they got as an infant.
