Just wondering what to expect at my first appointment and US. I will be 6 1/2 weeks along. It's next Wednesday, I am very excited.

I never had a vaginal U/S with DS. But I remember peeing in a cup, blood pressure, pulse, temp, weight. The doc asked if I had any questions (write a list of questions to take with so you don't forget any of them), and I got a prescription for prenatal vitamins.

If your dates are correct you should be able to get a heartbeat via vaginal ultrasound (you won't hear it but they'll tell you what it is).

Prepare yourself for the dreaded "date" with a speculum (pap smear) lol if you haven't had one in a while. Also prepare yourself with some questions, the visits get shorter and shorter as you go along, with the exception of the ultrasound... and I also felt like I forgot to ask something!

I was able to see DS heartbeat at 6w 5d. Granted your days aren't off there is a possibility you will see it!

At 6.5 weeks they can't see anything through an abdominal ultrasound (baby is only 5-6mm), so I imagine they will do a transvaginal Although for me they've always done a pelvic followed by a transvaginal
