Depending on where we are for Christmas we either put up a fake tree or a real one. Since we'll be home for Christmas this year, it will probably be a real tree and put up a week or two before Christmas.
We get a real tree and we'll put it up the weekend of Thanksgiving I think. Since we're going out of town for Christmas, we'll just get a small tree this year but we can't really wait too long to put it up or we won't be able to enjoy it at all!!
I don't think we will do a real tree. Our cat destroys them and it makes a bloody mess of needles and sap everywhere. Honestly I hate christmas with a passion and I wouldn't care if we didn't put up a tree but I think DD will be disappointed if we don't so we'll probably get a relatively small fake one. Our families turn into monsters at xmas (both our parents are divorced and with new people, and NONE of them like each other so it's always a battle who gets to see the only grandchild, our DD, on the actual day etc.)

We drive to the mountains with my parents, and my sister's family the day after Thanksgiving to a tree farm. We find our tree, cut it down, have a big family lunch, and then drive back home. We always had a fake tree growing up, so I love having the smell of a real one now.
