Last time I was in a due date club we did a secret Santa, and later on a secret baby shower exchange too. It was a ton of fun!

Basically, everyone gets one person to buy a gift for. When you get that person's address (via PM) you learn what she needs or wants as a gift. Could be something for mommy or for baby.

There would be a spending limit. Last time I did it it was $20.

You should include a note or card with your present to say merry Christmas and who you are. You don't learn who your secret Santa is until you get your present in the mail!

Does this sound fun to anyone else?

It does sound fun! And, I've done this before with an online group.
That said, we knew each other much longer when we did it. Since it's already November, I'm not sure how comfortable I feel giving away my home address yet (no offense to anyone here at all) because I don't really know everyone very well, kwim? Eventually I would love to partake in stuff like that, though.
mommyandwife08 and MamaSkunk like this.

I love the idea, and did something similar with my past DDC. But I agree with Erica that it was after the group had "known" each other longer.

Plus right now things are kind of tight for us =\ But definitely somewhere down the line!

I second Erica's sentiment.

We did it in the Dec. 2010 DDC (and still do) but we had been together since April at that point and were much more comfortable with each other.

Since all our babies were born in Sept - Jan. the first year we did a shower exchange instead of Christmas. We could do the same in the spring as we get near our dd.

It is a lot of work, assigning buddies and tracking the gifts and it really should be the board co-hosts that do it the first time.

I am in, either for Christmas or shower- This community is the only place I have to talk about this baby right now

Thanks for the sweet suggestion!

It is a fun thing to do - I did it with both my dd's and I would partake again if it was set up. Thank you for suggesting such a fun idea!

We do a Christmas ornament exchange in my nov 08 group. Have been for 5 years now. That said it was done after we had known each other for a much longer time frame. I would be more comfortable down the line for a cyber shower. We use elfster and its much easier to pair people up and enter tracking numbers ect.

Hmm, looks like the consensus is that we should wait until later and do a baby shower exchange.

I'd never heard of elfster before. Who would have guessed that there's actually a website for organizing online secret Santas? lol

Sounds fun but I did the same thing with another ddc on another website when I was pregnant with dd and my gift was never received. I live all the way in Russia. I had proof I sent the stuff, it just never reached the mummy So I will opt out. I don't want the same thing to happen.

I live all the way in Japan, so I wonder if I'll have trouble sending things out.
