I plan to use cloth diapers for this baby.. i have only changed my friends little boy a few times.. but as far as cleaning them and the laundry..what is the best way to clean.. and can you dry them? or line dry.. and as far as what kind of diaper.. which would you recomend? all in ones.. pre-fold with water proof cover..and do you use throw aways when you go out?

I cloth diaper.. Love it!!
We use pocket diapers, my whole stash is sun babies. I clean out the dirty ones and then throw them in a pail, tell cleaning day.
I throw them all in the wash, run my wash routine. Then into the drier or line dry outside

My diaper stash has a mix of prefolds and fitteds with covers, all-in-ones, and pockets. If I was going out, I just packed my more compact diapers (all-in-ones and pockets) along with a wet bag for the dirties. It's really not any harder to deal with than running errands with disposable diapers. My daycare even will use the cloth diapers.

this is good to know.. my friend was telling me i might want to use disposable when you go out.. or if someone else watches the baby.. but its not their choice.. if a baby wears cloth bc disposables give him/her a rash.. you have no other choice.. honestly.. i wish i knew what i know now about cloth.. b/c i would have used them on DD.. no matter what kind of diaper I used on her.. she lived with a rash.. I have found good deals on ebay on the pocket diapers.. and I'm excited to get them I think I will use prefolds and covers as well..

Thanks everyone for the advice

I really like my All-in-twos (AI2). When DS was in diapers he was really sensitive to wetness, and so the stay dry snap in inserts were perfect for his skin. And they're really trim and easy to use like prefolds and covers, too. I ended up getting Best Bottom diapers and loved them. You only need about six covers and 20 inserts. Another thing that's great about an AI2 is that if you don't have any clean inserts you can use just about anything in the cover, a prefold, a flat, an old T-shirt, a dishcloth, some folded up paper towels... Lol plus they're really cute. Best Bottom Cloth Diapers
