What pregnancy myths do you entertain? Do you believe any in particular to be true?

I think its very likely the way you carry can show what you are having (all belly out front - boy, low and all over - girl)

I also think a lot of heartburn at the end = head full of hair.

I was all belly with a boy and I had heartburn but not terribly bad - bald baby. I have seen both of these true with MANY people.

I can debunk the heartburn thing for me anyways. The two pregnancies I had bad heartburn with I had bald babies. I had no heartburn with my first and he had a head full of coal black hair.

I also carried them all belly out in front and I have 2 boys and a girl. I think the carrying thing is how you are built.

I think that cocoa butter helps with the stretching itchy skin but it doesnt make them go away.

I had a few glasses of wine in my last weeks of pregnancy. I needed my uterus to relax and a 1/2 glass of wine was recommended by my midwife.

i carried according to the myth for both my pregnancies (girl and boy). I agree that coco butter is the best for itching because its coats the skin different. But I don't believe anything changes stretch marks. I think thats genetic.

I am going to find newborn pictures of my kids. I thought Everett and Katelynn would have a lot of hair and was shocked when David had coal black hair.

I don't buy any of the myths. I did carry all out front with my son though, but I agree that it's how you're built most likely. I had zero heartburn with him and he had SO MUCH hair. I thought *maybe* the heartbeat myth had some truth to it, so I was convinced I was having a girl the 2nd half of my pregnancy because it was always in the high 150's or low 160's. I was very surprised to hear hubby say "it's a BOY!" in the delivery room.

I carried according to myth with Connor as well, and he also came out with a head full of hair and I had HORRIBLE heartburn!

I believe stretch marks are genetic, and there's really nothing you can put on to stop them from coming if they are coming! lol

I think I craved spicy and salty things when I had Connor, so we'll see what I crave this time around!

I'll entertain all myths, I think they're fun!

oh and Connor's heartbeat was accurate for being a boy as well!

I had a lot of heartburn with Lily. She had quite a bit of hair. I had no heartburn with Abri and she was like a monkey when she was born. Tons of hair on her head, shoulders, back.

I carried differently with both girls, but mostly because I gained a ton of weight with Lily and swelled up.

Both of my girls heartrates were always in the upper 130s. I haven't seen a heartbeat this time, so that will be interesting to see.

I've had a friend say that dtd a certain way guarantees a boy. I told her I could debunk that myth

I just remembered a myth that my friend just told me recently about how to better your chances of having a girl. Apparently her MIL told her this. First, some education: male sperm are faster but die sooner. Female sperm are slower but live longer. So the myth is if you DTD right when you ovulate, the male sperm die out sooner which gives the female sperm a better chance to make it into the fallopian tube a day or so later when the egg can be fertilized.

I thought that was pretty interesting!!

Thank you!! When I was pushing him out, the doc was like "if this is a girl, you're gonna need some hair bows! And if this is a boy, he's gonna need a haircut very soon!" Hahaha

I think he's pretty cute too. I frequently want to eat him.

I entertain the heartburn=hair thing. I never had a problem with it, Jocelyn was bald...but when I was pregnant with Gabriel, I had it horribly!! He had lots of hair. I will post a picture of them. One sec..

Gabriel--lots of heartburn--lots of hair

Jocelyn--no heartburn--barely any hair!

I also kinda believe the heartrate myth. That one has rang true for both my babies

I don't believe the heartburn one because I had BAD heartburn so I was excited thinking i would get a baby with lots of hair (I think it is so cute) but she was bald! LOL

I think myths are fun, but I don't put too much stock in them.

No heartburn with any of my kids and they all had tons of hair. They all didn't keep it but they were born with it.
My last baby

I can debunk the gender based on when you conceive too. I should have more than one boy.
I like to think heartrate has something to do with gender, but we'll have to see if it's true with this one.

The heartburn one was definitely true for me! With DS1 my heartburn was AWFUL! So painful and everyday, he had tons of black hair. I had one day that I remember having very mild heartburn with DS2 and he only had a smattering of peach fuzz. I can't remember their heart rates for the life of me. I don't really believe the myths too much, but I do believe mom's intuition! I knew both of mine were going to be boys. I'm leaning towards a girl this time, but I'm also still unsure!
