Got my Doppler yesterday! I was so excited and tried it right away, then was crushed when after about 15 minutes I couldn't find anything but my own HB. I stopped for a bit, then gave it one last try before bed. Victory! A strong FHB of about 160, loud and clear!
There were a few things I did different that I think helped so I wanted to share in case anyone else was having trouble.
1. I moved from the bed to the floor. Being on a firm flat surface instead of my squishy bed let me stretch out flat and flattened my belly a bit for easier access. I also pointed my toes and tried to stretch out nice and long with my legs.
2. LOTS OF GEL.
3. I started about halfway between belly button and pubic bone in the center and did tight slow concentric circles outward. Baby was further left than I expected, so be sure to check farther out than you expect baby to be.
At first when I kept trying I was putting the doppler to "high up" (2 inches below my belly button) but little did I know my bean is down near my c/s scar LOL! Now When I want to hear the baby I just put it on my c/s scar and hear it immediatly!
