I'm 32 with one DS who will be 4 in January. My last pregnancy was a breeze except that he came 6 weeks early and did a stint in the NICU, so I'm on pins and needles that this one will be a preemie too.
I've told my good friend here, who is also pregnant and due in the spring, but we havent even told our families yet because DH wants to tell them face to face and we wont see his family until Christmas. No one at work knows yet.
Last delivery was unmediated and I intend to go unmedicated again. I mention it only in case there are other unmedicated birth moms who want to chat about it. but mostly I think everyone should do whatever is right for them for their birth, medicated or not. In my book, if you arent the one pushing you dont get a vote.
I didnt know about DDCs the last time I was pregnant, but I think its a neat concept. I looked around at a few others and I was surprised how snippy and judgmental some of the moms on there could be. I really like that this forum folks seem pleasant and supportive of one another.
Here's crossing my fingers for 40 weeks of happy and healthy!
Happy and healthy 9 months and welcome!!! 40 week vibes!!
It is good to see natural birth mamas on here too! I went for a natural birth but my hospital at the time (I was living in Mississippi) was not supportive. I felt I succeeded though, in that the few interventions I had were necessary and appropriate given the situation, and I was freely choosing to go that route based on what was going on, and I ended up with a vaginal delivery of a very healthy baby. (I had AROM after several hours of no contractions or progress at 6 cm, then there was a lot of meconium, then I still wasn't contracting or progressing so I had pitocin, then I was progressing but got stuck at 9 cm and my body was uncontrollably tensing against the hard pit contractions, so I had an epidural and she came out pretty fast after that!)
I am not afraid of any natural contractions and associated sensations my body generates on its own, I felt almost all of it last time except crowning and her coming out, and it really wasn't sensations that I couldn't handle from a good head space, though the pit was another matter... but I do believe in the medical benefit of interventions when necessary and I certainly don't judge anyone who likes maximum pain relief. It is a personal thing whether med free birth appeals to you or not. For me, I would love to have a natural birth this time and want to take advantage of my new hippieville location's resources... hypnobabies, doula, and all that!!!
I second being impressed by natural birth mamas!!! I, however, am hoping to have an epidural in place 2 weeks before my due date . Cheers to you, and you sound like you have an awesome attitude about it!
Welcome to the June DDC- I think we have the best group here! (I even moved from the May DDC to this one because of the awesome vibe here )
