DH told his family we're expecting on Thanksgiving and his mom mentioned that his (half) sister is also pregnant. She's due about a month ahead of me. Good for her, but I am so weirded out by this news because DH's baby sister is ONE YEAR older than my oldest son and less than three years older than my oldest daughter.

I've just turned 36 and suddenly I'm feeling too too OLD to be doing this again. It's almost embarrassing that I'm having a baby at nearly the same time as somebody young enough to be my kids' age.

I shouldn't be bummed about this, but for now I kinda am.

Of course it just hit me... now I know how our moms feel. DH has a much younger baby sister, and my mom and I were pregnant at the same time (she has a son 5 months younger than my first.) Oh, man... that doesn't really make me feel any better.

36 is NOT too old to have a baby! How old is your SIL? Maybe she's too young??

I'm sorry, that made me laugh.

You are NOT too old!! I'm 31, I'll be 32 when the baby is born. I have an 8 year old and two five year olds. Being that I had my first when I was 22 (or was it 23, IDK, lol), I think it's going to be a MUCH different experience now that I have age on my side! I was an old 22 (or 23), but still, I don't think you appreciate things as much as you do as you get older. I see things in a different way now than I did then.

Look on the bright side, at least you're not 46. NO OFFENSE to anyone who IS 46!! If you can have a baby, I say go for it! The older you get, the better you get! (Phew)

Noooo way are you too old! I know many women who didn't even get married until their early 30's and just starting their families. You won't even been 60 when this kid is 20. =)

Now as for the 46 year old comment - my aunt had her "oopsie" baby at 46. She is now 8 and my aunt is asked all the time if she is the grandmother at school. It's rough for her. She was a "change of life" baby because she thought she couldn't have anymore kids. So 36 looks pretty good to me!

Yup you're old out to pasture you go. just kidding.

I feel odd when I see people I went to HS with having their first child when I am on #4. Even though I am not old it just feels weird

My ex stepmother has a 1 year old..she was 37 when she had him. She also has 3 children with my father, the oldest being 17, the youngest being 11. I'm 26. Your situation is more common than people think. I'm glad that my brother (the 17 year old) hasn't had any accidents and made me an aunt before I made him an uncle! haha. Theoretically, if I have more kids someday, he could get a woman pregnant and I could be pregnant at the same time. Yikes! Haha. I don't think you're too old at all, and neither did nature!

I didnt have DD til I was 31. Im 33 now. I was the weird one all my friends had kids super young. But while I wanted kids while younger it never happened. It took me ten years of trying to conceive and it ever happened. And got preg with this baby on the first try. Sometimes God has other plans. I prefer to think he knew i had some growing up to do first before I was ready. Your not too old! You cant be cuz if you are then Im almost there and I refuse to think Im too old! You wanna talk weird? My oldest stepson has two kids...the oldest girl Mattelyn is 7 months older than my DD. (DH had kids very very young...he was a busy naughty boy!!)

I am 36 too, and although we are not "old" I totally understand how you feel. I have kids I babysat for pregnant now, too... Times are different, and pregnancy is happening at any age, but being 36 and pregnant is a whole different world than when I was 24 and pregnant!!! Because there is a 10 year between my last and this one, I really feel like a first time mom all over again. I don't remember any of the details of pregnancy and I am amazed by how much has changed!!!!

You aren't old at all!! I'm 30 and having #3. Most of my old high school friends still aren't even thinking about having #1 yet. That makes me feel old.

I was 16 when I had my first. I am 28 now with my 3rd. I am in a much better headspace now than before. This baby, is however, my last baby. My oldest is almost 6 years from being 18. If I stopped with him, I'd be almost done by now. LOL

I feel the same way, but I just found out my nephew's wife is pregnant with #2. Yep, that makes me a great Aunt, again.

My family is a little crazy, out of order. I'm only 25, but I'll be a great aunt in March. My dad will be a great grandpa in March, then a grandpa again in June.

The age is just a number. Going by how I FEEL lately, I'd swear I'm somewhere in my 50's.
