We didnt find out with our son and it was fun and a little disappointing at the end Ill admit since no one made a big deal about it since they thought we knew already. Still I like it a lot and if it wasnt for the move and everything I might wait again but I have too much going on this time and I need to know so I know which room to put my son in as well as what to do with his stuff etc so this time Ill find out and see what the other side is like when I have time to plan
We are definitely team green. =) love the surprise and the anticipation it builds in family members waiting for the baby to be born. it's not a matter of just weight or size - they all guess boy or girl and have bets. It's a lot of fun. It kills some people that we won't find out but like a previous poster said - I kind of like to annoy them. Hell it's my kid not theirs.
As for preparing and decorating a nursery...DS didn't leave the bassinet until almost 3 months and a crib in my room until almost a year we will probably do the same with this one and therefore whatever the room is decorated doesn't need to be done before the child is born. Plus when I'm pregnant at the end I'm a perfectionist and nothing DH could do/paint would be good enough.
I asked my DH tonight "you sure you don't want to wait until the birth to find out if it's boy or girl?". He said "no way we are waiting. We will end up with a kid named Bear!" (which is one of our joke names. )
So we will be finding out as early as we can, probably 16 weeks or so.
With DD I wanted to find out the sex so bad but DH did not so we waited until she was a born and I am SO glad we waited bc it is truely the last wonder of the world. He loved going out to the wanting room and telling everyone it was a very special moment. We bought neutral & for me that was a smart financial decision. We do not plan on finding out this time either..it is like an adventure for us! Plus after my bestie created a magazine worthy nursery for her baby girl & it came out a b oy after multiple u/s andbeing involved in operation redo that was enough for me lol. Plus DD already told us it is a boy & girl so I'm going s with that she has been right so far!
Good luck deciding go with your gut and make sure it is YOUR decision not what someone else thinks u should do.
