Great job! Keep it up! I quit smoking a few years ago cold turkey. When you think it is impossible, thing of how much better off the baby will be.

I ate a pear. Just giving my mouth something to do seemed to take the edge off.

I quit smoking 10 years ago and it was hard.

When you get the urge, remind yourself how many smoke free days you have. It may also help to read up on the risk to the baby when you smoke. I also had a print out from the American cancer society that gave me the time line of healing. After 3 hours BP returns to normal, 24 hours etc. It really helped. Also, the physical addition is gone in 72 hours. The mental addiction never goes away.

Good for you! It's the hardest thing I've ever done (4 times now!) But I'm so glad I did. Definitely keep busy, your hands and mouth especially. Taking deep breaths really helped me kick a momentary craving. It's been a month and a half or longer and I hardly ever think about them anymore!

I quit while preg with DD and it sucked cuz I lived with 4 smokers. I made them all smoke outside. Then i slipped up when DD was 3 months old n started again for a few months. I started to realize how bad smoking made me feel and I quit again in January. After 3 days all the nicotine has left your system. After 30 days the cravings are gone really. You can do it. And when ya quit....dont start again! Cuz then your just throwing away those months of not smoking. Oh n scary true fact...based on all the chemicals and additives in cigarettes that each puff is the same equivalent on your brain as freebasing crack. (I remember this if I ever have a bad day and get the urge)

Good job!! I have never smoked as a habit, but my mother smoked for years and years. She finally quit 5 years ago and I'm still so proud of her. I'm so thankful that now she'll be around a lot longer for my child. Remember that by quitting, not only are you improving your health and your baby's health, but someday your baby will have babies and you want to be around for them, too!
