I actually met my husband through a friend's older brother. I was 19, living back in Connecticut but visiting my old high school friends in Northern Virginia. It was a small gathering where most of my male friends were playing playstation and the girls were gabbing and playing with my son Alex who is now 3 about then.

But Jereme, was a friend from college to one of my friend's brother and also in town for the weekend. He fell inlove with Alex and we played in the backyard a lot that day and he asked me to go to the movies.

We saw Chronicles of Riddick (very romantic).

It was pretty much from that day forward we were inseparable. I still lived in Connecticut, but I would visit like every other weekend, until one day I came down for thanksgiving and just never left. We went to CT one last time to pack up my crap and go.

I didn't know it at the time, but my husband's biggest fear was dying alone without a family. Not only did he get a wife, but he thought he was the luckiest man in the world to get a son too. I was so used to raising Alex alone at that point, it was hard to allow Jereme to get close to him, but doing so was the best thing I ever did.

About a year later, my husband either "slipped up" or was testing me and called Alex by the nickname I had given him since birth....which is Goose, and immediately looked at my face to test my reaction. I was shocked but just smiled at him. I think it was that moment on, we were a family.

It wasn't long after that, Alex started calling him Dad and we got married.

I think Jereme's strongest quality is that he is an excellent father. He doesn't miss a football game, he wrestles with them. He plays video games with them. He never complains about homework help. He is quick to say "I love you" and carry Sebastian on his shoulders. He makes pancakes on Sundays and coaches youth wrestling.

His biggest fear is when Alex gets older, he throws the fact that he isn't his biological dad in his face. But I don't think Alex would ever do that.

Sometimes he ticks me off, but not on purpose. For example:

Its date night. I'm wearing tshirt and jeans. Its friday and all the highschool kids are dressed to the nines and i say to my husband jokingly "I think I am a little underdressed" to which he responds "don't worry, it is dark in the theater"

LMAO

playing pictionary in the HALO helmet he made for Alex
