Uggh. I treat with a practice, and you must rotate between each doc as you never know who will deliver your baby. At 10 weeks, I had the absolute best doc. He was attentive to the patient and appeared interested in how your were doing. Complete opposite with other doc today. Now I was not in the best mood ad they were 35 minutes late taking me to the room. Anyway, he had no bedside manner at all. Never asked how I was feeling. Never asked if I had any problems. Then when he used the doppler he wiped the jelly off of the doppler but walked away leaving it on my belly with no offer of a tissue. I suspect he "may" be competent. For now I am trying to figure out how to make sure my next appointments are not with him.
Be upfront and honest, my last office was like that too. I had one doctor who seemed annoyed that I asked him to take the time to find the heartbeat. I told the receptionist under no circumstances did i want to deal with him again.
I had the same issue with the last practice I was with. I switched to a midwife for this pregnancy but she is also a part of a practice. She says that she tries to be there for all of her births but it is not always possible so the person who might deliver my baby may be a stranger or some one else from the practice.
Knowing that, the difference is night and day. Even though I knew the doctor who delivered my first baby he was still practically a stranger (I only saw him once during the pregnancy). So I figured that I would rather have the one doctor for each visit who would remember me and know the ins and outs of my pregnancy and risk having a stranger deliver my baby. My midwife was the one who diagnosed me with HG and administered an IV and gave me effective medication after only losing 8lbs. I had lost 25 lbs and was suffering from repeated UTI infections and the 3 doctors I saw from start to end with that part of my pregnancy only kept telling me to pick up drinking water. I couldn't even LOOK at water without throwing up! Based on their reactions I thought what i was going through was normal and typical and that I was being a wimp. Now I know better. I was honest to God, beyond my control, sick.
'Scuse the bad typing, please. 'Breast is Best' but not when browsing the internet!
