I am not very close with my dad, so for christmas, I sent him picture frame ornaments. 3 of them. The first had pictures of my sons in them and the last one I put a picture of my ultrasound.

And that's how I told him I was pregnant.

Well, he got it last night and called me and I was too chicken to answer the phone.

So I'm kind of nervous he is gonna be a jerk, but not really, because I have no problem getting loud instead of allowing someone to hurt my feelings.

Ill have to let you know how it goes.

I hope it goes well, and if it doesn't, don't let his opinion bother you too much.

Good luck with your Dad.

I still have not told anyone other than my DH and doctors. I suppose I am the biggest chicken. We leave on a family vacation soon and I will not return until I am almost 17 weeks pg. I am planning on waiting to tell work until I return. Hope I am fitting into regular clothes when I reveal I hope I get the nerve to tell my family over the weekend. (Not sure why I am such a chicken. I am 39, married for nearly 14 years, and we are financially fine to handle this baby.)

Good luck! I was nervous to tell my dad just because I was afraid he'd think we should have waited a couple more years to build our house and have more couple time first. He was really excited though. Just be proud to be carrying that little one and talk to your dad.

You know it absolutely amazes me that so many of our DDC have had problems with their reveal because of their family members. Even tho my parents have been divorced for years and usually are problematic 90% of the time....the only thing they band together on is supporting me when pregnant. It kinda makes me wanna go around and yell at everyones families thats had problems with their reveals and family being less than supportive and happy Hugs Tania good luck hun*

So it went alright. He told me I was nuts, I told him it wasn't planned and he laughed a real genuine laugh and it made me feel good. He said "**** happens but congrats!!" and laughed some more. By the time I got off the phone, I got a real sense of him being happy for another grandchild and it made me feel really good.

Overall that sounds positive. I understand the hesitation when announcing to family. My mom doesn't always have the best reactions either

This was probably a good way to tell him, rather than face to face. This way he had time to think it through and you weren't wounded by a possible hurtful first reaction. I'm glad everything went well!

Glad it went well! I totally understand the hesitation. My family has had not so great responses in the past so I was totally blown away when no one had anything negative to say this time.
