I am a runner and a soccer player, both of which are out of the cards for me until July. I am cleared for low impact (cycle, elliptical, dreaded walking). I did well on my work outs until about 8 weeks when I got a nasty head cold that hung around until 12-13 weeks. I haven't done anything since then. I promised myself I would stay in cardio shape this pregnancy but I having trouble since my first loves are no-go.

What are you guys doing work out wise (low impact) to stay in shape? I have a gym access, a tri-bike on a home trainer and a treadmill, so I really have no excuse, except that I am a lazy slug.

I am going to commit to 3 45 min. cardio sessions next week after Christmas. I will do it! I start training for the Boston Marathon in exactly one year from this week. That should be enough to keep me going until I can lace up the Brooks again

I'm on my feet all day at work and running after kids and cleaning when I get home, so I'm so exhausted when I sit down. I used to love exercising because it gave me more energy . . . . but I need help too!

I was just thinking this morning that I've been getting pretty lazy. I'm not huge with traditional exercise, but I usually do lots of walking and running with the boys on their bikes. Playing on the playground with them. It can get a little difficult to do that around here in the winter, it gets so cold! I'm going to make myself take a walk today, and every other day. Committing!!

If you have a nice place to walk, that makes all the difference! I hope to get back to regular walks along the ocean when I feel better. I don't worry much about cardio, getting M pinned down and cleaned up from a poopy diaper, or chasing her on the playground is a pretty good workout for me. But I need yoga!!! I want to get into a prenatal yoga class somewhere with childcare. My body gets so sore and out of alignment and I crave yoga. But have had no energy to deal with anything for weeks now. Hope I feel well enough to make it happen soon.

Shameless plug here, but we have a Fitness board right here at JM which I just happen to co-host... Mommy Weightloss and Fitness - JustMommies Message Boards It would be great if you want to join us- weightloss is not our only focus.

I am a runner, too, I miss it so much. Hubby thinks I'm nuts. I don't have gym access so I do all my exercise from home. Just trying to get back in the swing of daily exercise in the last week. Right now I am doing walk/run intervals on the treadmill on cardio days. On strength days I use the tm for warm up and cool down and follow a simple full-body routine with free weights or body weight exercises, circuit style. "Rest" days I do easy yoga or a stretch. So I'm on a three-day rotation right now, or at least that's what I'm trying to stick with. I also leave myself permission to swap days if I feel like a different workout will serve me better.

If you have gym membership, this might be a good time to try out some classes you might not otherwise take. Swimming is also a great option, or so I'm told... I sink like a rock.

I'm jealous that you can do low impact! Exercise for me is out completely with the size of my SCH. I was going to suggest walking too. What about swimming? I'm not sure if you have access to an indoor pool but that would be a good full body workout without being too intense.

I agree that going to the gym & trying out some new classes might be a good idea. If you find something that you really like, then you'll want to go do it. I'm a fan of Zumba, obviously since I teach it, and you can do that low impact, even if the class is higher impact. Just don't jump and bounce as much! If you haven't tried it, I recommended it... It's fun!

Also, any Les Mills class (BodyPump, BodyCombat, BodyJam, etc) will be great. (Some may not be low impact enough, but it's worth a try!)
