Well being that this is my first i need to buy everything. There are so many lists out there online. Some are really skimpy and some are really overdone. I am looking for a good middle of the road list on items to buy for baby. Anyone seen a good one? Thanks

I would lean toward the skimpy lists as theres so much that you dont need right away. Crib, diapers, clothes, car seat are the real basics. Just do up your nursery how ya want it...stock up on clothes for the first few months(remembering to note the time of year the baby will be at a certain age...) and other little stuff. Most of it ya can get as you go.

I agree. Like you don't need a high chair now ect. I would honestly buy only a few things of clothes because you don't know how big baby will be or how fast they will outgrow stuff.

I absolutely LOVE this lady's blog for first time moms. She gives you ideas for a really great essential baby list. I would highly recommend reading it when you get the time!

This reminds me of a funny story. My MIL kept asking me what I wanted for Christmas. I don't really need anything, so I told her to get baby stuff. I told her I have a couple of registries up with some things on them in case people needed Christmas ideas. She called me the next day asking about a bassinet. I told her I didn't want one because I don't plan on having the baby in our room, and we'll end up getting a pack n play with a built in bassinet anyway. I told her I really want to minimize the amount of "extras" and focus on what we'll ACTUALLY need....and USE. She asked me what we need immediately. Really? You had two kids. What did you need immediately? Sometimes the woman drives me crazy. She was so intent on getting me something that we can use as soon as the baby comes. What did she end up getting? A highchair. Sigh.

I love Lucie's list! Consumer reports has good info for comparing brands and price points.
