The last few days, maybe a week, I've had some terrible pain in my tailbone. I don't sit much, especially not at work. It actually seems to hurt more when I'm up and walking for long periods of time. I'm only worried because I've had what are called pilonidal cysts (cysts that form over the tailbone) surgically removed twice back in high school and it was the most painful thing I've ever been through. If this is a normal pregnancy thing, I won't worry, but if it's not then I need to get it checked out as it's ultimately an infection and can get into the blood.

Thanks!

I haven't heard of it except closer to the end! But everyone's different! Get it checked either way if its causing you pain!

It absolutely can be. I have it BAAAD. What I have is called Symphisis Pubis Dysfunction. It causes me excrutiating pain in my tailbone--to the point I almost thought I had broken it somehow.

Read this article and see if any of it sounds like what you are going through. If it does, talk to your doctor about things to do to help with the pain. If it doesn't then you still should talk to your doctor to see if it could be cysts like you have had in the past! I wish you luck!!

My tailbone has been hurting me if I lay on my back too long or sit in the same position too long in a chair or on the couch. But it doesn't hurt when I'm standing up, at least not yet anyway. Hope it is just pregnancy related for you!

Thanks for this! I'll have to talk to my OBGYN about this for sure. I'm hoping this is all it is and I can quit worrying! Sorry you have so much pain, though!

It is okay! It is worth it and it is temporary!

My tailbone hurts like crazy when I'm pregnant. I've always assumed it was normal.

I have the same pain! I have never even thought to ask if anyone else was experiencing this- glad I'm not alone.

I am experiencing pain on and off in that area. It happens to me after a physically active day (lots of cleaning or walking) or if I'm sitting for too long.
