I was never offered that test. Not sure if it's just my midwife who didn't offer it or if it's more so based on the practices of the US and Russia in regards to pregnancy. I didn't know about a lot of things until I signed up here and a few other American-based mummy boards. A lot of tests and procedures we don't do here.
Lurking from May DDC: I declined this time around. I got so sick when I did it with DS. I don't wanna go through that again. I couldn't keep the stuff down AT ALL (the third try, I made it to the office before I got sick all over the place) and ended up eating an entire bag of jelly beans at the OB office and then having my blood drawn and my sugar levels were perfect.
I have a friend who had GD in both of her pregnancies she had a homebirth. I don't see why your midwives would discharge you to a high risk. They can still order the nsts ect. My midwife with Everett ordered one for me if I didn't deliver for 41'weeks and we were also told that it doesn't risk us out right away. As long as I kept my sugars within range ect.
I will at least be taking the 1 hr but will decline the 3 hr if I don't pass the 1 hr. I had GD with DS and I had no risk factors. Th 3 hr made me so sick last time so if I fail the first one I will just monitor my blood sugar and watch my sugar.
