With DD, when we went for our 20 week ultrasound, try as he might, the technician wasn't able to determine the sex. We resigned ourselves to not knowing. Towards the end of my pregnancy, at about 35 weeks, I found a coupon for a 3d ultrasound and we decided to go, just for fun. The technician told us that because I was so far along, we probably wouldn't be able to see if it was a boy or girl. But what do you know? The first thing up on that screen were girl parts!
With this pregnancy, I had my 20 week ultrasound about a week ago, but I was really disappointed with it. The technician was rude and she wouldn't tell us the sex, but just put it in the report for my next midwife appointment. Well, that's not until February. So we decided to go ahead and get an elective 3d ultrasound before my next appointment. We'll be going in next Friday and I can't wait! By then I'll be just shy of 22 weeks.
A lot of places have specials on certain days of the week, and that can help with the cost.
I did one at 16 weeks. She said she was 100% sure he's a boy. I haven't had my anatomy scan to confirm, but I would probably pass out if it turned out to be a girl. Here's his potty shot at 16 weeks:
I say go for it! Just make sure they'll refund the money if they turn out to be incorrect.
Oh, and right above the arrow, you can see his hands reaching for his boy part. Even more of a reason to believe he's all boy haha
I had mine at 18 weeks. Cost 110 dollars but was WELL worth it. They won't do pictures that early at the 3D place I went to but they give a huge discount if you want to come back to do pictures between 26-32 weeks (when the baby looks less creepy).
I had one done at 14 weeks 1 day and found out baby was a boy. Had my anatomy scan at 17 weeks one day and baby is a boy. Also baby is one week five days ahead on measuremets so I think thats why they was able to tell the gender so early.
Yep, did it with my last pregnancy. We did it right when we turned 16 weeks and it was very accurate - couldn't be more clear that my son was a boy . It was a great experience, I definitely recommend it.
