I don't qualify for leave of any kind. Technically I'm a part time employee (full time only during tax season) and I don't get benefits. So I'm really hoping that I can just quit when baby is born. I will work right up until I go into labor
You are lucky to have so much time available to take off!
When DD was born, I was only allowed to take 4 weeks off, and I had to use my own vacation time to cover 2 weeks of it and the rest was unpaid. DH got 2 days off, which was used up by my being in labour for 2 days.
This time around I'm a stay at home mom, so that's not something I need to worry about. Also, because we live in Canada now, DH gets paternity leave that's paid for by the government. It only pays 60% of his income though, and his company doesn't top that off, so he won't be taking the full amount of time off that he could. But even still, he plans to take a month off, which is pretty amazing.
I stay at home, so obviously I don't have to worry about maternity leave. But SO has 5 weeks of vacation this year, one of which he is taking next week. He'll take a week off, starting the day after baby is born. If he happens to be at work when I go into labor, he'll just tell them he has to leave and that he'll be on vacation for the next week. Hopefully it doesn't conflict with anyone else taking vacation. There are only 4 key holders in the whole store and that has to cover 6am-midnight 7 days a week.
