I was just wondering if anyone knew if there was something safe other than TUMS for heartburn? It is getting bad enough I can't sleep. (case in point why I am online so late!) I can feel it pooling in my throat and I am absolutely miserable! But, I have been eating so many TUMS and they aren't doing anything really. That and I gag on them because I hate the taste so bad

I use papaya enzyme tablets, they are available at walmart or health food stores. I also find certain foods don't digest well when I'm pregnant, so avoiding them really helps too.

My doctor has me taking Pepcid Complete every morning. It works much better than Tums, but there are still times where I get mild heartburn.

I was told to take Pepcid but i didn't like that i had to take it every day and that it would take a few days before it would really kick in. And, if it was really bad one day, I couldn't take Tums to help it out.

So I chewed Tums by the bucket, lol. Have you tried sleeping in a semi-upright position?

I have... I start out semi-upright and then wake up laying down completely with it soo bad! I need to get some better pillows to help keep me propped up a little bit I think. I drank some milk and ate a piece of bread tonight, and that seemed to help a little bit. Ugh!

I have been taking Gaviscon. It is like tums but works better for me.

Come to think of it, I hope it's okay to take, I will call my doctor!
