Is anyone spelling their baby's name in an odd or different way?

We are spelling his name Zackary.

Well, I have Bourne and Bodhi. While Bodhi is not that unusual, the rednecks around here think it is very odd. They want to pronounce it Bod-I or spell it Body.

DH says he wants to call him Zack so that is part of why we are spelling it this way.

I have used traditional spellings for my kids as much as possible- mostly because my own name is spelled a little differently... so ever since elementary school I had to correct people. Nowadays I only say something if it is important at that time... At least in my experience, people don't pay attention to name spellings and will spell my name wrong even after they have seen how to spell my name... so it is sort of a low grade pet peeve of mine.

Nope. I am a traditionalist. I don't want my kids having to correct people for the rest of their lives. It's bad enough that people butcher Madeleine's name even though it's the proper spelling for that particular name. But to each their own .

We're pretty traditional in our family too. We tried to choose unique but classic names. Although, you'd be amazed at the number of times I've seen people spell Fiona's name wrong. I've seen Thiona, Feona, Fieona, and Fioena. I'm hopping Finnegan won't be too hard for people, although since we plan to call him Finn, I'm sure I'll see his name being spelled Fin from time to time.

We chose an unusual spelling for Raechel (our second) so it would match my middle name Rae. It is CONSTANTLY being misspelled on paperwork, etc. and I'm afraid she's going to be rather sick of it as an adult...

Not this time. Henry is about as traditional as you can get. But my girls' names are just unusual. Lily is Liliana and Abri is Abrielle. People are always adding an L or N to Lily's full name. And with Abri, people just don't even know what that is. Her nickname is pronounced just like Aubrey and her full name is pronounced like ah-bree-ELLE

Jereme (Jeremy) and Tania (Tonya) are both odd spellings of our names.

Jereme's mother was trying to be clever and he hates it. He is always called Jerome or they slaughter his name so bad he doesnt even bother to correct it.

I was actually named after a city in Sicily called Catania that my father visited while he was active duty and fell inlove with.

But I can only tell you how often I'm called Ta-nee-ah or Tan-ya....it is really quite obnoxious and I don't plan on doing that to my kids.

We don't have a name for this baby lol.

We do have Jaleigh though. It is spelled that way for family reasons and I was so afraid no one would pronounce it right. Surprisingly, it's always pronounced right but it usually spelled Jaylee unless I spell it out.

Kiefer, on the other hand, is spelled the traditional way for that name and it is never spelled or pronounced correctly.
