I have not read them at all but I am a bit of a literary snob. I did read the twilight series as they were forced on me cuz they were the must read for the time and they also were awful and definately wrote for a 14 year old.
And besides if I wanted to read an erotic S&M book I would reread Anne Rices Beauty series that she wrote under the pen name A. N. Roquelare. And most know shes excellent at character development afterall her character Lestat is so well beloved
I've read all three of them. I had fun with them but it does get annoying with the repetitiveness. That and the characters always "murmur" Snd "muttered". Haha. The books lose a story line at times and is just focused on the s&m...when that happened, I just skipped til I picked up a plot. I prolly skipped half the third book.
I read a lot of books, and I do prefer books with scandals, etc etc. (I am not one for literature, haha) but I did not like Fifty Shades. To me the writing was almost silly. I stopped after reading the first one.
I borrowed it from a friend. I couldn't do it. The writing really WAS terrible (and since I spend most of my time in school and nit picking my own and other peoples writing I couldn't get past it) and secondly I think the story line in general does a huge disservice to the BDSM community who are already under constant scrutiny for their safe and consensual practices
Mom to my wildchild Kalyna (Dec 2008)
I have started book one, I am about 8 chapters in and can completely see where all of you are coming from...it is written pretty bad, and as much as I use "..." I don't think it should be in a book...it just seems silly!
Murmur! Muttered...and "er" are driving me nuts.
