Has anyone read this?

I hardly ever fall into the books that "everyone" else is reading ...
but the more I heard about this series, the more I wanted to read it.

Actually it was because of this article ... lol
'Fifty Shades Of Grey' Divorce: British Banker Leaves Husband Because He Won't Recreate S&M Erotica

I just picked it up last night and started reading it.

Just wanted to see what you gals thought

The story line is interesting and it's definitely a page turner just to see *** they are going to do next but the writing is absolutely horrible. I had such a hard time getting through it and it is incredibly repetitive.

I have only read the first Chapter and I am seeing already that it's not written very well at all.

I'm not usually a writing snob so I was surprised at how much it bothered me when I was reading this. I have some friends that are absolute addicts though and have read it a few times. I told them they need to spice up their sex lives a little more and not depend on a book. LOL

LOL. I don't think I will be that serious about it.
But I do know a few of those people myself, and I told them something similar!!

I'm usually kind of picky about the grammar and the way that things are wrote out in a published book...so this should be interesting haha.

Did you read the whole series?

I have not read any of the books because I am a literary snob.

A lot of my friends have read it and all said the same thing. The 1st book was the worst but the writing did improve in the 2nd and 3rd. Basically it is written porn for women, so there isn't supposed to be a decent plot or excellent grammar.

I have read them. I knew what type of book it was and so I knew it wasn't going to be a literary classic With that said, I had fun reading them! I am not uptight about things like that.

I haven't read them. I would like to at some point. I am not much of a literary "snob" if you will, I am pretty easy to please. Heck I loved the Twilight series so I imagine I can put the grammar and writing style aside. I just never have time to read!!

I've read the first two, they were okay. I might have a touch of literary snob in me but they were good light reads and I agree not well written at all. I don't understand the craze going on about them and I will never re-read them which is rare for me anyway unless the book affected me and really got under my skin. I've probably only re-read half a dozen books and that I refuse to part with. Too many good books out there to read and life is short . But they are good books to read as a break after a heavy book so I recommend them for that purpose.

I read them. They are an easy read, some parts are very repetitive, some say it's not well written (probably all the repetitiveness) but all in all it's just an easy, fun read! I enjoyed them!

I read them. I enjoyed the first book, knowing upfront that it was a fun and easy read. The second one was slower and the third one was hard for me to get through. The repetition was annoying, but I think I found the character interaction really annoying. I was cool with the sex parts, but I am not a fan of a controlling relationship

Awful awful awful awful. The writing and complete lack of character development drove me CRAZY. I made it through the first book but decided two pages into the second that I just couldn't take anymore.

I haven't read them, but I have different issues. The fact that it was Twilight Fan Fiction, and my friends who read Twi fic read the story in it's original form, and explained that the woman refused to have a "Beta" or an editor read over her work as she wrote, then turned around and said they read the first book, and it was word for word the original fic, just with the names Bella and Edward changed, that kinda bothered me. As both a fan fic writer and an original fic writer, I personally would never pull to publish anything I wrote and posted in a fandom. And the whole thing kind of caused a huge discussion amongst us fan fic writers about what was appropriate when pulling to publish and how much you should actually change.

Plus the fact that she maintained the abusive relationship themes that were prevalent in Twilight and transformed them into her own series, and then mis-represented the BDSM community, I just could never get over these issues when they added up, even to just quell my curiosity.

Just know you aren't going to be reading the greatest writing of all time. but if you are bored and looking for something fun/sexy to read, its good.

It got creepy for me when my mom asked to read my copy and then send my grandmother the trilogy for her birthday.....

ummmm...yeah

You think that's creepy? Try going to your in-laws last Christmas, and finding out that not only did your MIL read it, but your FIL read it too, and they were both reading the third book in the series while we were there. You should have seen the look on DH's face....

I read them, more out of curiosity than anything else. Definitely not literary classics, but I went into it knowing that. They are definitely kinky, and I thought the plot was okay. Quick reads for sure.
