SHINGLES! I had a shingles outbreak (thanks to having the chicken pox virus when I was a kid) 13 years ago and never had it since until now. When I found out that I have it now while pregnant I completly freaked and started crying..My OB and regular physician said not to worry and that luckily baby shouldn't/wouldn't be affected thank GOD....SO now I have to take valtrex to help speed up the virus but it really just needs to run its course Talk about scarey! lol
Oh no, no wonder it was so painful!!! I am sorry hun. Yeah, the placenta is very good at keeping baby safe from the vast majority of illnesses mom might get, don't worry about the baby *hugs* everything is harder to deal with when you're pregnant though! Hope you have a quick recovery!!!!
Thank you ladies! I was soooooooooooo worried when I first found out that I have it because I went to "google" and some of the things I read scared me so much..But after talking to my OB and regular doc I have calmed down. But oh man is it painful!
I had no clue until today that it actually is quite common during pregnancy..My doc said that since our immune systems aren't as strong as they usually are (when we aren't pregnant) it raises the chances of getting while pregnant. Just my luck LOL! I had it once 13 years ago and of COARSE it just HAD to rear its ugly head NOW and scare me when Im pregnant....sigh....As soon as I found out that this is what it is the FIRST thing I said to my hubby was "OMG, I have to let all of the ladies on just mommies know" LOL!
