I caught my husband's stomach bug and spent all Saturday evening in and out of the bathroom all night. I slept all Sunday practically and though Im up today and feeling better I still dont feel 100%. My biggest issues seems to be that baby girl is like starving. Im nauseous and dizzy from hunger and so I try to eat which makes me uncomfortable for obvious reasons and eventually I need to empty that and its a continuous cycle of hunger, bathroom, hunger etc. Its better now but literally Sat night I would be trying to sleep and rest and couldnt from hunger, would eat a banana, puke withing 5-10 mins, try to lie down only to be bothered by hunger and nausea, get out of bed to eat, and end up in the bathroom again. Its not as bad now but still why is this baby so hungry? I cant stomach a lot of food right now and just want to rest more but Im up eating it feels like all the time to combat the nauseousness. Ive been drinking plenty of Ginger Ale and water so Im not dehydrated but this hunger thing is maddening.
Shes probably hungry as in order for her to get sustenance you need to actually keep food down and digest it and have the nutrients cross over into the bloodstream to go to the umbilical cord and then into her.....so basically she hasnt had any food if your throwing everything up. If it doesnt get better you may need to go to the hospital
I had the stomach flu last month. It sucked balls and I was so worried about starving my baby. But honestly, its you starving, not baby. My OB said that baby is diverting every possible nutrient from you and for reassurance he did a HB check and it super loud & strong. For sure if you get to the point where you cant even hold down water, thats serious dehydration and would seek medical help. I spent the first 4-5 days puking & sitting on the pot then spent a week more unable to hold solids. I was at the point of having hazy cloudy head/foggy brain and dizziness, pounding headaches, no energy, and lack of even appetite by that point. I was put on Zofran and it took about another week but eventually I was eating again. I was advised to start with clear liquids only. Water, broth, jello, applesauce, electolyte drinks, maybe dry toast if you can hold it down. And take small sips all day long. Dont chug.
Im not a medical professional and of course only you know your body and can sense when something isnt right. But just wanted to say right now its all about you getting yourself better momma...baby will be ok.
