Make sure to check with the hospital that you're delivering at that the pediatrician who will check out your baby is in your insurance network. We got a NASTY surprise in the form of a LARGE bill that we could not negotiate down with Alex. You are allowed to refuse this pediatrician's services but I would STRONGLY recommend making an appointment for your new one at your own pediatrician's office no later than 1 day later.
I intend on calling my pediatrician's office to make a visit while I'm in labor, lol. Hopefully they'll accept that.
I also just read advice to check for any auxillary physician's services like the anesthesiologist.
'Scuse the bad typing, please. 'Breast is Best' but not when browsing the internet!
I discussed this with our insurance company. If this happens they said call them. Even though the person is out of network, they would pay the entire amount since we were at an in network facility. This was with a Blue Cross plan. Just an avenue to check. It can take lots of calls. They said they generally try to convince the doc to accept their rates. In the end though they said they would cover.
