Meconium is sticky and hard to wipe off their skin but it really doesn't stain diapers, it's just from amniotic fluid, ya know? I know lots of cloth mamas like to bring them to the hospital and use them right away but I am all about minimizing the things I need to keep track of or worry about in the immediate postpartum... I want to just rest and get comfy with the baby and cuddle and breastfeed and sleep and stuff. So I am not going to bring cloth to the hospital. But lots of people do and love it, just like lots of women love to wear a nice gown and have their own pillow and their own clothes and blankets for baby right away, whereas I would rather use the hospital stuff and not worry about it getting messy.
I knew this was the right crew to ask about this one! Thanks for all of the great info! Has anyone used the Soft Bums ECHO or other AI2s? This is what I am looking at. It seems like it might be the best option for us, but I am interested to know the thoughts of other people who have used them.
The person who runs this blog is a friend of a friend (I did not know this until I posted that I was going to use it on Facebook and my friend told me of the connection, lol)
Lady KW: We plan on using up all the freebies the hospital gives us before starting on CDing for our newborn. The diapers at the hospital will take care of the meconium mess and will give us time before having to worry about the umbilical cord (none of my covers have a notch).
'Scuse the bad typing, please. 'Breast is Best' but not when browsing the internet!
I agree with Shen. Although, we didn't start CD'ing Connor 'til he was 6m, I didn't have to worry or think about CD'ing at the hospital after birth wit him. But I will use what the hospital has so I don't have to worry about what I brought and what I have to bring home and laundry piling up, etc etc.
