Just looking at the direction my physician gave me at my 26wk 5 day appointment. It says to call the doctor when "contractions have been 5 minutes apart 45-60 second in duraction for 2 hours." REALLY. With our first they told me 10 minutes apart for 1 hour. Perhaps I am paranoid. My last delivery was super easy and quick. There is no way that if today I had contactions I would wait for them to be 5 minutes apartment for 2 hours prior to even calling the doc. Now as time is closer to the DD, I was thinking 10 minutes apart for an hour. What have other ladies been told?
Um, considering my last labor was less than 2 hours and I didn't make it to my hospital, my midwives want me to pitch a tent outside the hospital a week before my due date. Well they really told me to head in when they are consistently 8 minutes apart because of the distance to the hospital. They didn't really give me a length of time for it either. I'd end up with a home birth for sure if I had to wait 2 hours at 4-5 minutes apart
No verbal instructions yet but on some paperwork that was sent home at one point it said for first babies: 4-5minutes apart consistently for an hour. For subsequent babies: 8-10 minutes apart consistently for an hour.
I have never had what I would call a fast labor before so I guess it's not something I have ever really been concerned about before...guess I should ask just in case this one is speedy!
