Not sure if this has already been asked but I am starting to get a little worried about my weight gain. With DS1 I gained about 80 and with DS2 I gained about 20. I am overweight but this time around I have yet to gain anything. I have actually lost a few pounds in the last few weeks. I am eating and I eat really healthy but I thought I should have at least gained something at this point. It is worrying me even more because I feel like I am so small compared to how I showed with the boys. I was huge with them but not so much this time around. So I guess what I am asking is anyone else not gaining weight? Anyone know if this is normal? I plan on asking my doctor when I go but I just got assigned a doctor (we just moved) and still have to wait a week to set up an appointment.

Depending on how overweight you are to begin with, and if your eating habits become healthier during pregnancy, it's entirely possible that you won't gain any weight. With DD I weighed 220 lbs pre-pregnancy, and only gained 5 lbs by the end. With this pregnancy, I started out at 205 lbs and I'm at 211 lbs right now - so I've only gained 6 lbs.

I'm really overweight and have only gained 1lb over my pre-pregnancy weight. This is my first child, though, so I don't know if that makes a difference. If anything I thought I would gain a lot, but nope. The doctors don't seem worried and I can tell by my stomach that baby is growing just fine. I'm taking it as a blessing! As long as your docs aren't worried, then I'd probably just enjoy the idea of not having to lose it after the baby is here!

I was really overweight when I was pregnant with dd and I started eating healthier and I actually LOST almost 20 lbs, which my doctor was fine with as long as baby was healthy and growing... which she was!

I agree with the other ladies. As long as baby is healthy then it is fine.

I don't want to get too personal and ask weight. Here is what I understand as the very general guideline (again - general):

If you are:
underweight - gain 35-45
normal weight - gain 25-35
overweight - gain 15-25
obese - gain 11-15
very obese - gain up to 10 pounds (and perhaps nothing)

the doc is quiet as long as I am somewhere close to the guideline. (Again - it is a guideline, not exact).
