We had our baby shower today! (Sunday) Not a lot of people showed up, but it was fun and we got some baby stuff! (Several duplicate things thanks to Babies r Us & Target not taking them off the registry, so we have to do some exchanging, but that's ok!)
On saturday we went to look at a used dresser (we needed a bigger one to fit both SO's stuff and mine) and turns out the guy had a whole lot of stuff we needed. He gave us a really good deal and we ended up with a dining room table and chairs, a sofa, the dresser we originally went for, lamps, great area rugs, and a beautiful coffee table. We have a sitting room and a family room now, so we needed more furniture than the duplex we had, plus we didn't have a real table and chairs or coffee tables. Now the family room is furnished, we have a great dresser, and the sitting room is ready to go. It looks like a real home now! All the stuff was this guy's mom's and you can tell she hardly used any of it. I'm very lucky to have such a generous mother who bought everything for us as a "house warming" gift.
I was all bummed out about the weekend and just how it always is us doing nothing. So we went to old town to buy our daughter new dance shoes and found a huge street fair/carnival, so we were able to have a wonderful day with the kids.
I had my baby shower yesterday! It was so much fun. Only about 10 people came, which was plenty, since I HATE being the center of attention, and we got SO much stuff that we needed. I'm starting to relax A LOT about being ready for this baby to arrive.
DH got tons of little jobs done around the house (new smoke alarms, new ceiling fan for ds, curtains and light fixture for baby...) and I finished making a crochet pillow, which was an accomplishment for me b/c it is my first normal looking crochet project
DH got some flowers planted in the front yard while I was at work on Saturday. Then Saturday night, my MIL offered to take the girls for a sleep over so that I could sleep in. She knew I haven't been getting a lot of sleep lately. It was really nice to get some rest without the typical morning chaos
My mom called Saturday morning out of the blue and asked if she could come pickup DD and keep her the rest of the weekend. It was so nice!! We were able to sleep in Sunday morning and we went out to eat for three different meals. Eating out without having to worry about the typical 3 year old drama is quite exciting and was the highlight of our weekend.
