My procrastination has come back to bite me in the butt. I called the hospital the other day to register for one of the tours of the maternity center, and apparently their tours are full until after my due date. It's my own fault that I waited so long I guess, but according to their website they had a late April and an early May tour still open. Sigh. It's not the end of the world, but I was hoping to familiarize myself with the hospital before the real deal.
Luckily we at least know where the maternity center is. I was there for my 1st tri screening, and DH's daughter was born there. I'm not too worried, but I was hoping to get some idea of what they provide vs. what I need to pack, etc. Guess I'll be questioning the doc.
I took one with my pregnancy with Madison but since I delivered Hailey and will deliver Zack at the same hospital so I didn't do the tour again.
Maybe try calling back a few times to see if they get any cancellations.
If there are spots available online, I would try to sign up that way. Once you get a confirmation on your date/time of the tour, can they really turn you away?
We signed up for our tour online. Even though my husbands girls were delivered there, I still had no idea where I needed to go or anything so I'm dragging him to the tour! I didn't take a tour with my first only because I worked at the hospital and knew where the unit was and most of the policies.
That stinks! I only signed up for mine 2 weeks ago and it's on the 23rd. The lady that does them called me to just get some more information and she was shocked that my due date was so soon. She sort of giggled and said "Cutting it close, aren't we?" And I explained that we only recently moved here. I agree with trying to sign up online. If you get a confirmation, they can't say no.
My hospital offers them on certain days, and just yesterday DH informed me that he would be travelling on the only tour date that WAS going to work for us before my due date. So, he called the hosp and explained and they offered us a "private" tour just this morning! Maybe if you called and explained you could get something like that? Or they could add another tour date? When my husband suggested calling I didn't think it would work, but it took like 2 seconds to arrange and they were really nice about it. I hope you can still get a tour. bottom line though, basically everything they told me boiled down to "depending on what your doctors orders are" so now I realize I need to get things straight with my doctor before I will know what is going to happen at the hosp anyway!
