So, my son is almost 2 and though we're not really starting potty training we do talk about going to the potty a lot and talk to him about his own functions and such. One thing we do is always announce that we have to go potty and most of the time he gets curious and wants to "visit" with us in the bathroom. I'm much more used to this than DH but DH has to get on the ball because he needs to show Alex how to use the toilet as a boy. He's getting more comfortable but it's difficult, which I understand, lol.
Anyway, when I'm done I always say "Mama is such a big girl for using the potty! Yay for Mama!" Today I told Alex that I had to use the potty. "Mama, potty!" "Yes, baby. Mama is being a big girl." This time when I finished he cheered, clapped and shouted "YAY MAMA POTTY! YAAAAAAY!" And then cheered even more when I washed my hands.
