so after going back and forth with whether or not we would do cloth diapers I decided to order some. since I don't want to feel overwhelmed with them I decided to go with all in ones because they seem easiest and basically a cloth version of disposables. I ordered 2 thirsties, 6 lil joeys, and 1 swaddlebees. so 9 all together. is that good to start with? is there anything else I should definitely get?

I think that should be okay if you are just testing it out. If you dont like it they have a great resale value. But dont be surprised when they dont last you all day depending on how much he poops or pees. If you want to really commit I would get some more but for a trial that should be good.

DItto. For a trial run that should give you a good idea if you even like using cloth. You'll still be saving some money because 9 changes a day is 9 less disposables in the trash. OH! And the Thirsties AIOs can flip their absorbent pad inside out to dry faster. I don't know if the other AIOs do that or not.

I also think that is great if you are just wanting to do a trail but not 100% commit.

You'll want enough for a 2-3 day supply. With AIOs I'd say enough for 4, really. With my one AIO it sometimes takes a whole day to dry. So, 3 days worth in the wash and 1 day to wear during the washing. But I think a lot of people get away with just getting enough for 3 days total (2 in the wash and 1 load to wear during washing).

Additional supplies:

*Liners if you think you need them (disposable for BMs or stay dry liners like micro-fleece)
*Cloth safe rash cream (like CJs BUTTer)
*Wet bags for travel and for changes
*Fabric wipes if you want them (or just use disposable. You can also make your own with old t-shirts)
*Doublers (I highly recommend cotton/bamboo based instead of hemp or microfiber because of the stink) for when your baby gets larger and pees a lot more and you are going longer between changes. If you make your own wipes you can make your own doublers, it's very simple.
*Cloth safe detergent

I feel like I'm missing something :\
