I went to my new doctor today (the one an hour away) and I LOVED it. The intake nurse was super sweet and even before I started asking questions she says "We're big advocates of being more 'baby friendly', immediate skin to skin, lots of bonding time, never taking baby from the room.." And I stopped her and I said "Oh thank goodness! That's exactly what I want!!" She got this big smile on her face and was excited to see that someone is informed and interested. I also talked about being as mobile as possible during labor and she said that they are big advocates of that, too. As long as they can monitor the baby's heartbeat for 20 minutes after every hour that you're up and baby is doing okay, they encourage walking, using the birthing ball, and using the whirlpool. I got to see the midwife and she seemed genuinely interested. She actually used to be a doula and recently got back from a few months in Africa where she helped women from rural villages deliver in clinics. How awesome is that?! She took care of the boil that the other doctor here wouldn't even acknowledge and I also got a Tdap vaccine. They're setting me up with a perinatologist to get my last ultrasound next week...and he has a 4D machine! My BP was fine at the office and she told me not to take it at home anymore unless I feel really bad since it sounds like I'm just stressing out. She felt baby and she's still head down. HR was 120, but we agreed she must be sleeping.
I'm so excited and relieved that I chose to deliver there. I knew it would be better, but the fact that my midwife and doctor team are so awesome just makes it awesome.
