Found out that my midwife will be on vacation from June 8th until June 20th. I am a little pissed and woried. I am not due until June 30th but still that's close. And it is my first. She doesn't seem to concerned at all.
So I am meeting the other 2 doctors which are OB's I think and both males So my 37 & 38 week appointments will be with them.
That does stink! But it is really common that your doctor may not be the one delivering you. Hang in there try not to get too upset bc honestly in the moment you will not care who is there as long as they are going to get that baby out! I remember being very worried with my first too.
I was also upset that my doctor was on vacation the day I delivered (for Christmas break). By the time it came time to push though I didn't care at ALL which doctor was there as long as they helped get her out. It does stink but at least you'll be meeting the other doctors! I've been rotating between my OB and a couple of residents who sit in on my appts so that i'm familiar with who might be available when delivering
Mom to my wildchild Kalyna (Dec 2008)
My OB was off the day my water broke with DD and I was stuck with this real awful OB that was on call that I hated!! And then my OB came in the next morning and I was still in labor and fifteen minutes later DD came . I swear she was waiting for him. As I had been at 7 for quite a few hours then bam went to 10 the moment he got there lol
It's okay to be disappointed, but it's not 100% for sure that she'll be gone when you are ready. Try to stay positive and be open minded with the other OBs. I didn't have any midwife or OB deliver Abri. Nothing more interesting than walking into a room full of strangers and delivering a child immediately. I was disappointed that I didn't have a familiar face there, but it still was a good experience.
It's ok to be disappointed but you never know when labor will begin. My midwives with Everett alternated vacation and he did not come until they were both back. I actually formed a great relationship with them. Huge hugs.
