I woke up in the night and felt horrible. I couldn't get back to sleep and ended up getting really sick to my stomach, to put it as delicately as possible, in both directions. I haven't been this sick in years. I think it may be food poisoning. I ate out last night near the hospital where my dad is. I talked to my mom this morning and let her know I was sick so she would know why I didn't come to the hospital today. Now she has me freaked out that this could be early labor. She got really sick the night before she had my sister. I am definitely having contractions, even though I am laying on my left side. I can't chug water bc it will make me get sick again, but I can also tell that I am dehydrated. Not sure what to do right now. I don't want to call the dr's office unnecessarily, but I don't want to be stupid either. Suggestions?

I would probably go ahead and call in. As sick as you sound I don't think it would be an unnecessary call.

I have been like that on and off for days. I thought the first time was food poisoning but the couple times after...unsure. lady at church said she had symptoms like this her last pregnancy towards the end and being her gallbladder . Gonna talk to Dr today about it.

I'd call. They might want you to get fluids just in case. That happened to a friend of mine.

I agree with the other ladies, it's definitely not an unnecessary call and if you're dehydrated they might want to give you fluids. Dehydration (as we all know by now) can cause contractions and make everything worse. I'd call.

I would call also. You could go in and get some fluids, that would probably make you feel a ton better. And they could give you some IV anti-nausea meds to help you feel better too. I got food poisoning last pregnancy. It was horrible

Make the call. It is always better to err on the side of calling and it being nothing than it being something and not calling.

Thanks, ladies. I did end up calling, but, stupid me, I waited until the afternoon when I was having pretty regular contractions. They told me to go to L&D. Since I won't be 36 weeks until Friday, I had nothing ready to go. 36 weeks was always the time I planned to prep, so we threw a bag together just in case (realizing as soon as we left that it was missing quite a few things), I took a shower since I was disgusting, and off we went. I was really relieved that my favorite midwife was on duty last night. She immediately started me on IV fluids. She checked me and I was a finger tip dilated (expected since it's my second) and 50% effaced, so real labor is still a bit away. They hooked me up to the monitors and things slowed down as I started to be better hydrated. I was still having some contractions when I left, but they were very mild, so she wasn't concerned sending me home. I was there for a not very fun 6 hours. She did say that she doesn't expect me to go much past 37 weeks, so we'll see how that goes. I was really hoping for 39, but I guess it isn't up to me.
