Just wondering who has a doctor that does a cervix check and when. I have a 36 week appointment on Friday. Not sure what our doctor does (it has been over 8 years since I had a child). One part of me wants to know if I am dilated at all. Then I know that unless I am really dilated it doesn't truly indicate anything. I could hang our at 5 for weeks. I could go from 0 to 10 in a day. Just looking to hear what others have experienced.

My doctor checks weekly starting at 37 weeks. I didn't refuse it because I was curious to know if I had made any progress, especially considering my doc is planning on inducing me at 39 weeks.

My doc starts them usually weekly at 37 weeks. I have been checked weekly since 35 weeks because I asked to be.

I was asked for the first time at my 37 week appt if I wanted to be checked, so I assume 37 weeks is the norm for my doc.

My doc starts at 37 weeks also. Or as close to 37 weeks as you get.

I was checked once since I had been having cramping and she wanted to see if they had done anything. They were going to check me monday but then realized I was only 34 weeks not 36 weeks so I have two more weeks before they start checking me.

Mine starts at 36w with the Group B strep test. I could refuse it if I wanted to, but I'm usually pretty curious. I don't think I will be dilated at my appointment next week.

I'm not sure when they will check me. I won't deny it bc I'm curious but my doctors seem to think unless there is reason to check they usually won't til the end.

I was checked yesterday at 35 weeks but that is because I have been cramping.

They dont unless I ask to be checked. I probably wont until 40 weeks or in labor if I am feeling the urge to push.

With DD, my midwife checked weekly from 36w onward. At my first check, I was 1 cm dilated, and then up to 2 cm by the second check, and I stayed 2cm dilated for the rest of the pregnancy.

This time, my midwife has told me that she won't check unless I go over 40 weeks. I'm curious if I'm dilated at all, but I guess I just won't know this time around.

My doctors never check until you are in labour. The only reason i've gotten checked in this pregnancy is because of pre-term labour concerns and the doctors always wanted to do it while I was in labour and delivery to see if I was significantly dilated
