You will likely get them now and again. With a first delivery you would likely be really certain when labor starts. After a few of not so painful ones they will become evident. (Of course you could be like me getting them every 10 minutes and crouching over an ottoman in pain. I was still in denial that it was "real labor." ). I would only really have a concern of not getting to the hospital in time if your doc finds that you are really dilated at an appointment. With our second child I was 7 at my last appointment, It was at that point that the doc told me to go to the hospital labor or not. I was too close to go home and wait for labor. I am 3 now and the doc is fine. I could hang out here for a while.
