Would you be prepared if you had such a fast labor you delivered At home, in the car, somewhere other than your intended birth place?

Er. Probably not. Haha. I guess we could get through it, though.

LOL - I'm thinking if that were the case, nature would take over and we'd kinda not have a choice other than to just roll with it...and because i've seen too many movies/TV movies of the week, I'd call out for water to start boiling ;-) Why? I dont' know...that's just what they always say first when a baby is coming!! lol =)

Nope but after my last birth I plan on packing a different bag to keep in the car. I need to research what we might need in case I do have a baby in the car.

I would be fine if I delivered at home. DH was in the L&D ward when he had his medical schooling thru the navy so he knows what to do to deliver babies. AND my youngest stepdaughter was accidentally born at home on the water bed and DH caught her. So if it happened I would have full confidence that it'd be OK.

I think my husband would completely freak out. I don't know that I wouldn't be freaking out, but I think I would be able to handle it better than he would! Luckily the hospital is only about 15 minutes away from us! (Unless we need to get there at rush hour. Then it could take a little longer! I'm hoping for late night personally, so there won't be any traffic!)

Yup! I've been reading a ton of UC birth stories, too. Our plan is to go to the hospital since I'm a vbac and my DH is not comfortable with home birth this time. But I honesty would be SO happy if it went so fast we didn't have any other choice. We're close enough to hospitals that I really don't think that could ever happen, though.

Since I am planning a homebirth anyways we are prepared but more for a midwife assisted. Kyle has read up on somethings for a unassisted birth in case things go too fast. My friend had an accidental homebirth/unassisted there was no time to even get to the closest hospital. They did call 911 when they were sure they were not going to make it and they were there shortly before the birth.

I think we'd be fine. We had a home birth with DD - granted, with several midwives in attendance - but I think we'd manage pretty well on our own.

However, given that I was in labour for nearly 3 days with DD, and the hospital is literally a mile down the road from us...I don't think we're going to have any trouble getting there in time.

Haha, not even a little bit. I think DH would pass out at even the idea of it. Luckily, we are less than 15 mins from the hospital. Labor with DD was 28.5 hours, so I highly doubt this will be a problem for us. I had a friend growing up who was born on the living room floor at the house where the lived completely unassisted since they couldn't get to the hospital in time. Her dad caught her bc the paramedics were still on the way. Yikes! I think the chances of labor coming that quickly are fairly low for most people. At least that's what I'm telling myself.

No, because I NEED my epidural! LOL! I have puppy pads everywhere in case my water breaks though, and my hospital bag is always in the car, along with the carseat.
